Julie Bacon

Julie Bacon

Instructor

Foundations, Agility, Obedience

Julie’s training foundation started in her childhood spent riding hunter/jumper horses, with success at state, regional and national levels. She’s transferred that energy to big dogs and now competes nationally with her Bernese Mountain Dogs. Julie’s “Novice A” dog, Karma, was a willing partner and the team successfully competed in Obedience, Rally, Agility, Herding, and Draft (carting) regionally and nationally. Karma became the first Berner to place in the AKC Rally National Championship; the first to earn both a Grand Master Draft Dog title and Master agility titles; and the first Grand Master Draft Dog to compete at the AKC Agility Invitational. Julie’s second Berner, Indie, is carrying on the tradition of “firsts” becoming the first female Berner breed champion to earn a MACH; the first Grand Master Draft Dog to earn a MACH; and the first Berner to compete in both the AKC Agility Invitational and the AKC Breed Championship in Orlando.

Julie is a BMDCA draft judge and also teaches draft to all breeds. In addition to Indie, Julie also has two young Berners in training, and the group lives in Northern Virginia where by day, Julie is a performance coach and marketing consultant.
