Draft Seminar

Drafting (or carting) is not only a wonderful activity for working with your dog, but is excellent conditioning for all dogs. This seminar is for all levels of teams - from curious to experienced! Instructors Julie Bacon and Jennifer Donnelly will work with teams to advance their skills - be those beginning or advanced.

    Draft Workshop

    We will work on all aspects of a draft test from basic control to recall to maneuvering. We will also pay special attention to your harness and cart set up as well as walking the course and general conditioning.

    This seminar is open to all breeds and we will be working with the Berner test regulations in mind. We will have some harnesses, carts and training gear on hand so just be sure to bring lots of motivating treats!

About Julie Bacon and Jennifer Donnelly

Julie Bacon is a Berner draft judge and has earned the BMDCA Grand Master Draft Dog award with two dogs, the first male and female to do so with AKC Master Agility titles. She is also an assistant instructor at ACA.


Jennifer Donnelly is an owner-handler-breeder of many Versatility Dogs, each having earned both breed championship and draft titles. She also competes in obedience, agility and rally while running her boarding kennel in Loudoun County.

Registration Information

  • Registration opens Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 7:00pm for all students. If you are new to ACA, you will be required to create an account and agree to the ACA policies.
  • Registration closes Wednesday, September 7, 2016.
  • The fee is $75 per student. (One student may work multiple dogs)
  • The seminar is limited to 12 working spots.
  • This is a "no frills" seminars so lunch will NOT be provided. ACA is close to "civilization" and there will be a break to grab lunch.
