Abigail Tidwell
Instructor
Abby grew up with Golden Retrievers while dog sitting, working as a vet assistant in high school, and helping out with anything dog related; handling dogs since she was a young age has been formative in making her the "crazy dog lady" she is today! Growing up with a family dog with aggression sparked Abby's passion for dog behavior and for helping people deepen their relationship with their pets.
Abby currently has two Australian Shepherds, Maple and Oakley. Maple is currently titling in scentwork, and Oakley is currently training in agility, scentwork and rally. Abby rescued Oakley at 9 months old; she was an everything-reactive dog who'd had no socialization at that point. They have put in the work and years in building confidence and trust between each other, and to get Oakley to be comfortable with the world. This journey is why Abby has a special interest in helping owners with reactive and fearful dogs because she?s living and breathing it daily with Oakley.
Outside of dog training, Abby is a software engineer and lives in Leesburg with her husband, Andrew, and their two Australian Shepherds. When Abby isn?t doing dog sport activities, she is reading, playing video games, or snuggling on the couch with her dogs. She is passionate about continually learning about dogs and growing as a dog trainer every day.
